Painted before and after a private coaching session with the fabulously talented Alfonso "Banshee" Giraldes. This was painted in 2015-2016 and was my first larger scale historical piece and was a learning piece for True Metallic Metals which i had previously been struggling with.

Many thanks to those who have commented that it is refreshing to see a 'fantasy' style applied to a historical piece, you can thank Alfonso for his vision of how painting 'ought' to be - without boundaries.

The shield motif is completely hand painted.

It was part of my bronze medal display in the Masters Historical painting category at the Duke of Bavaria show in 2016.
