Marshal Ney during retreat from Russia in 1812 did heroic retreat with very small quantity his Corps after battle near Krasnoye. It was called "ice hike" because remnants of Ney could break through the snow and frost. French troops, completely surrounded in the rear of Russian troops finally managed to break through and get to the location of the main forces of Napoleon.<br />
