I painted Yoda for Crystal Brush 2015. It was so much fun painting this awesome Yoda sculpt, so much constrained intensity in a little guy. I wanted to capture a sense of remorse, regret, anger, and sadness in his expression that I imagined he had after all his jedi buddies got executed and he was forced to spend the rest of his years in a swampy mess. It was really difficult to realize a good fog effect. My attempt was sculpting some fluffy fog on top of plasticard and painting a transparency effect.

Hope you like it...as always comments and critiques are welcome!

Great to see this in person. You definitely captured that intense feeling and look in his face. I also really like the subtle texture on the cloth. I'm going to have to try that for one of my future projects.

Thanks Dave! I'm new to textures so this was a fun experiment for me. Inspiration and learnings from Alfonso Giraldes' RAF pilot minimentor tutorial.

Very cool experiment with the fog. Looks convincing. Overall a very cool model with athmosphere! The painting of his face is superb!
    • Anthony Wang

Thanks Roman! I was scratching my head about how to represent fog and thought a forced perspective approach would be fun

One of my favorite pieces that year. Great job on the cloth textures and that fog. Gold.
