The character 'Heat Blade' was sculpted by French Doll (Cerberus Project) after an illustration of Tsukasa Jun. I bought the figure 6 years ago and kept her until my painting skills could do her justice. Since I really wanted to bring my painting skills to the next level, I needed to stop painting figures in the boring clean Japanese Anime style and stop pinning them on a wooden base like dead pieces of plastic. I spent many hours thinking about how a frontal, cenital light source reflects on all different kinds of materials instead of doing 'deep area dark, high area bright'.

Heavily inspired by a piece of my big inspiration Jarhead, I turned the base into a little sci-fi scene, putting the figure in context and telling a story. Probably she is a brave galaxy defender? So brave that she doesn't even need chest armor.. : ) The basic tones are airbrushed, but basically the whole figure is hand painted. She is completely detachable so I can continue to refine every part when I want to, because there is still so much room for improvement. But for now I really enjoy just watching her in the display case.

I'm trying to wrap my head around your flesh painting technique. It is so remarkably realistic. This is the level of skill that I aspire to emulate. Thanks for the inspiration!
