The model is sculpted by the always wonderful Lucas Pina Penichet. The model is: El Viejo Barba-leño. Everything he does is always a pleasure to paint.

I was first greatly inspired, when I saw a paintjob by Rodrigo Akore of a stella argentinas elf turned evil. I really wanted to try somewhat the same, with a paintjob of an inherently good character turned evil. I found this bust to be the perfect subject, seeing the somewhat ambiguous nature of it, with long crooked fingers, and the “ent” just looking dead tired.

This inspired me to do the scene, where the druid is corrupting the forest. After this I only needed to select the scheme. Still inspired by Rodrigo, I selected magenta, purple and violet for the clothes of the old man. The skin I wanted in a greyish tone. I wanted the collar to be gold representing ambition for power. The bluish color would then be the corruption spreading magically through the forest. The orange color represents the forest itself, in fall, just before winter and just before giving in to the corruption.

Overall I'm very happy with the project and the result.
