Had a lot of fun working on this one. I used to do woodworking and have a very soft spot for antique furniture. I also do a lot of thinking about the symbolic meaning of everyday items, and the closet is a classic symbol of secrets, and hidden feelings. So it felt worthwhile to build and paint this.

I wanted to represent the closet in kind of an optimistic light. To give it a kind of nostalgic or positive feeling. But I thing I managed to keep it looking kind of secretive too. Very ambiguous, i know, but that only makes for a more interesting piece - in my opinion.

I deliberately painted this in a rather tactile way, with lots of visible brushstrokes. This project is about expression, rather than model making. It is in a way a miniature portrait of a part of myself as it represents part of who I am. I can think of no better way to represent that, than painting it in a way that feels natural and enjoyable to me.

The closet is built from scratch, mostly from PS sheet, but I had to use some putty for the moulding.
