I wanted to capture that contrast between a gorgeous and peaceful day and the mess of war—guilt, pain, and grief. The dark side is meant to be implied from the harsh shadows on her face and hair. You’ll also catch subtle hints of fire from the main view—like an ominous warning that things are not quite right. As you turn the figure, I’ve attempted to show the conflagration in the reflection of the armor, both wreaking destruction around her and a metaphor for what is eating her up on the inside.
