Alai from Galapagos Miniatures.

With this bust I wanted to push myself in two ways. First, I've felt NMM has been one of my weak points and especially a warm gold tone. This bust gave me a lot of potential metal material in all sorts of shapes and angles to push me out of my comfort zone and practice that.

Second, I picked 6 paints at the start and made sure not to reach for anything else during the painting. The aim was to go start to finish only using those same 6 paints on the palette and mixing from them. I found this helped me stay in the flow and try things, rather than grab separate "go-to" paints as I probably have too often in the past.

I took this to Monte San Savino last weekend and did make a few small adjustments after getting home but it's time to pick the next piece :)
