Liu Yu(363-422), arguably the greatest emperor between 220-589 in southern China, have been a pathetic gambler in his early life, until the Assembly Jingkou.
In 402, Jinling, the capital of Jin Dynasty was taken by rebels lead by Huan Xuan. At that time, Liu Yu was at his hometown Jingkou(250 km away from Jinling), from where he gather 300 unarmed to break into the armory. Thus began the Assembly Jingkou. Within 48 hours, his army grew to 3000 soldiers. For another 48 hours, he fought bravely with perfect strategy and defeat tens of thousands rebels from Huan Xuan, taken back Jinling. Thus he became the last great general of Jin Dynasty and after that the founder of Song Dynasty.
The sculpt is based on some pottery figurines unearthed. I tried to deliver the feeling that he's winning everything and enjoying protecting his friends and land from the rebels. I hope you like it.
