After a busy summer I finished another bust, this time the Roman Signifer (Legio XX, AD61) from FeR Miniatures in 1/12 scale.

The Centurion from this set was the first display bust I painted 2 years ago so now it was time to paint up the next from the group.

My focus with this one was twofold; to continue working on more refinement and to push the visual interest by working the environment into my non-metallics more (as I've consider NMM to be one of my weaker points so far).

I'm happy with the outcome as I think I've done quite a few things better than previous pieces, and although I say it every time I feel I've leant a lot again in the process. Certainly been a piece I enjoyed, but now it's time to pick something new and decide what to push myself with on a new piece!

      Thank you :) Glad you like the face, it was an aspect I tried to improve on. And with the bear skin quite a big part of the model I tried to give it some interest without pulling too much attention from the signifer himself, so if that came across well for you it's also good to hear!

      Sorry Chris , my english is not so good , i write in german . Ich mag die Ausstrahlung dieser römischen Figur , vor allem mit dem Bärenfell und Du hast gut geschaut um es so dazustellen . Im Moment arbeite ich an einem Aqilifer und erste Ergebnisse die ich sehe sind sehr schön . Es ist nicht leicht ein so schönes Ergebnis zu erarbeiten - Dir ist es gelungen .
