Kitbashed Necromancer
painted
by
GianCarloJubela
The Soulblight Necromancer has sacrificed everything---body, mind, soul, and spirit---in pursuit of forbidden magic and mastery over the dead. With unholy words and gestures, he can bring rotten corpses and scabarous skeletons back from the grave, binding them to his will.
This project is inspired by Count Orlok of the 1920s silent film "Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror" Because I don't have enough money to buy an official Necromancer, I kitbashed an extra Nighthaunt Guardian of Souls. I cut off the lantern and replaced it with the candelabra of a Dreadwarden. I used the smoke of the lantern to create an unholy hexfire on the base. I replaced the GoS's head and left hand with the head and left hand of a Flesheater Courts crypt ghoul. I also added a cut-off key/keychain assembly from an extra Spirit Torment.
The base is simple. I covered the surface with epoxy putty and stamped a wax stamp on it to create an interesting pattern for the ground.
For the paint scheme, I opted for an "en grisaille" grayscale scheme to pay homage to 1920s black-and-white horror movies. Later though, I decided to add some color through the OSL of the hexflame and the candlelight. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this project.
