Hi everyone, here’s my latest finished piece for my gallery.

At the Kontrast Festival 2024, this cute and original model by Kahaminiature immediately caught my eye, and after a short hesitation, it made its way into my collection!

Before starting the painting, I explored different color mutations of leopard geckos and decided to take inspiration from the Inferno Clown mutation. The final color combination was really fun and fit perfectly for this project!

I initially considered several options for the base – from a natural outdoor scene to a dramatic landscape, but I didn’t feel confident with those ideas. Eventually, I decided to place the model in a dojo. I made the floor and the backdrop from wooden coffee stirrers, which was quite fun, though cutting and gluing all those tiny pieces was a bit challenging. I used tracing paper to fill the wall, which added the perfect traditional touch to the interior.

The model’s armor and kabuto helmet provided a great opportunity to work on details, and I added the Meyui clan symbol to the Maedate. Drawing this symbol, just 5mm in diameter, was a real test of patience and precision.

Overall, I’m happy with the result and hope you like my version too!
