All I can say is: this is breaththaking and full of glory!
While it is not my type of cake from rendering all the surfaces and effects it is yet an amazing work and included knowledge to make this so readable and full of sense. Amazing work, David. An easy gold and Editor’s choice from my side! I hope some other Editor’s Pickers will become active again and this one gets the attention it deserves! Keep on happy painting!

I’m late to the party again but it’s gold and editors. It’s an interesting one as I actually find it rather comic/ anime style for the reflections and while I don’t find it super realistic, it’s also masterfully done and and the rendering and colour choices are out of this world.

Thanks for the comment Tim, and yes you’re absolutely right and it’s in a way quite intentional, it was those strange unnatural and bright colours that I wanted to try and make a part of the feel for the model that is a High Elf in the land of Hoeth in Ulthuan which is where they train their magic and is near the magic vortex.  I tried to think quite a lot about the lore when trying to incorporate the scenery into this model I wanted the reflections in the metal to help tell the story.  It’s something I’m trying to do more and more as time passes.

I know everyone seems to focus on the reflections a lot as well but I was quite happy with how the face of her turned out and I think despite the fact that most people will get lost in the metal I think her face is still a pretty decent first look focal point before the getting lost part.

Sorry a bit more than you comment brought but it’s what your thoughts made me think.  Once again thanks for the thoughtful comment.
