Finished another project recently in the form of the King of Goblins by Spira Mirabilis. I was lucky to find a copy from another painter earlier in the year, as I have been after this piece for a while due to missing out on purchasing it when it was released. For me this is a great sculpt and one I've always wanted to paint, particularly after seeing versions of this painted on putty and paint. There is so much character in this bust with all the different goblins and the big man himself haha

I originally painted this over the course of 2-3 months and it had numerous changes to the colour pallette throughout that process. I underestimated getting the balance right with the colours and all the faces and focal points of this bust. It was a big learning curve, particularly with a blue and orange/peachy skin tone.

I am happy where I settled on this and can call it finished. Different to my usual painting style and wanted to push with a different approach utilising warm and cool colours and visible brushstrokes which I think suits the bust, particularly around the goblin kings face giving him a sinister look.

Thanks for the guidance from Tim Marsh and Andrew Buckley on this piece. There were a couple of areas where I got stuck and their feedback was invaluable.

Onto the next one!
