Hollow Frame
I'm lucky enough to work with some incredible Ukrainian colleagues for the last 6 years and wanted to pay some small tribute in my own nerdy way.
The overall idea is to show Ukraine bleeding, but still standing strong and refusing to crumble. The cold interior is the reality and effect of war, small symbols of hope and tributes to lost love ones. It's pretty on the nose, but I didn't feel like complicating it any more than it needed to be.
The picture in the right-hand photo frame is the 'Mother Ukraine' monument in Kyiv, which was originally built in soviet times. The original soviet arms symbol on the shield has since been changed to the Ukrainian Trident (controversially to some citizens, as state budget was spent on it during a war).

I wanted to leave it with the original symbol though as I like the original juxtaposition of shining the Ukraine colours over an old soviet statue.
The other frame is of her (presumably) late husband, originally I wanted to paint her with the same camo jacket, but didn't want the piece to feel too 'military'.
The window frame/wall was made out of a balsa wood base.

The bricks were a layer of white clay with a brick texture pressed in, I then rolled some tin foil over it to add more texture.
The concrete layer on top is simply polyfilla, which I left to dry for a short while before chipping away to reveal some of the brick layer below.
Anyway, hope you enjoy!

I think you have done a marvelous job. As I was looking at your pictures, I was thinking you were adding in the Ukrainian colours covertly! Two questions, if I may? What is with the eyes of the old man in the photo (they seem to be cut out) and the blue “light” on the wall to the old ladies left?Fabrizio SchiragaPLUS
