Well done! He really feels very harmonic from the color choices and very natural. Lovely texture on the leather and fabric parts. The skin feels a little bit too well blended for me in his face - nothing wrong with that - but it feels a bit unnatural somehow. Like there is a softener filter from a mobile on it and I know it isn't. It is painted that way and I personally do not see a medieval bowmans skin treated so well without any flaws, without any texture or scars or at least a little bit of a beard shadow. Nonetheless a really good version of this bust! Keep on happy painting!
Hi Roman, thanks for your input! It's greatly appreciated. Youre right. I purposefully gave him a very smooth and young face as a lot of archers were very young, they started their training at 10 years of age and by 18 were battle competent. I also find it amusing that apparently their right hand side was often much bulkier than the other due to all the training. In hind sight im still happy I painted him very young but perhaps I should have added dirt and maybe scratches or bruising......
Lovely painting !
Maybe a little extra shadows on the bottom of the face imitating an early beard could have given him a more authentic apparence ?
Well done !
I like how you rendered the clothes and all of the various materials. It feels very worn out and the textures feel good for the materials used. Awesome work!
