Mercy from Ignis Art.

After SMC in October I decided I'd painted a few too many things a little too quickly in the excitement of wanting to get projects done in time for it, with the end result that some things were a bit too rushed. I decided to start a fresh bust with the aim of spending longer on it to try and push things to a higher quality, rather than go back to do more work on the figures I'd already declared 'done' last year.

I used the opportunity to paint my first female bust to work on the skin tones, with Mercy also having a variety of different materials to play with.

I feel I've put more into her than previous busts, and definitely pushed past a few points where last year I would've been too ready to say she was done and start something new - the lure of new projects is strong! I had most of her done early in December but took the time to spend another month making adjustments after getting some feedback on weak points. Learnt plenty in the process I can hopefully carry into future projects.

I agree. Well done on the task of pushing her more! I really like the overall atmosphere that is included in the shadows, the level of details, like the scars, tattoos, her damaged eye. Lovely work! Keep on happy painting!
