I have been in love with the cyberpunk genre for some time now and really wanted to do something more with it. I love the frequent use of very vibrant colours in cyberpunk art and thought it would be interesting to tap into that. I also wanted to try to tell a story with very, in as simple a way as possible - or at least hint at a story.
My idea was to paint the shadow dissolving into pixels to touch on the theme of compromising with your beliefs to achieve some (greater?) goal. I think that theme seems to be an important aspect of the cyberpunk genre.
On the more technical side the figure was painted over a bright red/pink underpainting. I let the red peek through the turqoise in places to work as a kind og osl, and to emphasise the electronic/digital parts of the figure and to make the painting a bit more "alive". The red lends a bit more contrast to an otherwise monochrome paintjob,
I painted this in a rather short time, focusing more on the overall story and colour scheme, rather than trying to paint perfectly. I wanted to go for at lively paintjob, with visible brushstrokes and vibrant colours - And rarely have I enjoyed painting something that much.

Very good, the shadowed back is awesome, subtle and very tricky to get.Mikkel Frederiksen
Thank youMikkel Frederiksen
Hi Eduardo. Thanks again. I think my comment got chopped off last time. I actually wrote something abour the shadow, but it was deleted in some way. Just wanted to add that the shadow was painted with a kind og bark violet that I mixed from pthalo green and quinacridone red. The green is part of the turqouise paint on the figure too. Afper painting it I airbrushed over some transparent red. I think that approach adds some depth to the shadow and helps to tie it in with the rest of the scene. HOpe that makes sence :-)fabrizio1969PLUS

Just want to say thank you to all of you who commented and voted in here. The reception of this model has been way more positive than I had dared to hope for. I feel like that I was going a rather experimental route with this one and I was genuinely concerned that no one would find it interesting. I am so happy that you all like it and now I look forward to dig deeper into this style of painting. Thanks again :-)Jakob VPLUS
