Incredible sculpt, Woe, by Mujin Park. Conversion as ‘BizArt’ for Nordlys Miniatures.
It was such a tough subject for me. The blanket is sculpted by me. And a wedding ring too. Scene is simply a traffic accident. Something bad happened. I imagine her looking at a paramedic bringing some news.
So why did I do this? Actually it was Mujin’s idea. But for me it is a horrible horrible thought brought to life. Every time I send my wife and kids off on a long drive I fear this. It is quite simply a nightmare brought to life.
For various reason I am always black and white with these things. 50/50 chance all is good or the sky falls. I have a habit of crossing my fingers each time I get an uneasy feeling, even though there is no logic to it. My son is born with a cleft palate, and is a straight up fighter. Each time he has had an operation I feel just like this. I once had crossed toes and fingers for seven full hours his first operation. So it is that. That emotion. Fear that any time disaster strikes. And no calm in knowing that it thus far has not.

Luckily it was so tricky to do that I did not focus too much on it during.

Mujin’s idea. Don’t blame me.
You and Andrew have absolutely knocked this out of the park - I can see a lot of people coming up with ways to bring the bust into clear emotional contexts. Absolutely brilliant work.

  • Rhiana, "Cyradis"

Your work is stunning and haunting <3
    • Jakob VPLUS

Thank you so much. This piece is tricky as I have genuine doubt as to whether it does anything but feed that worry and unease. But at least it was interesting to paint.
    • Rhiana, "Cyradis"

Hey, art can a venue for displaying emotion at a certain time. That isn't always cheer, but it can be worth remembering. To me I see a memory of worry, more than something that causes it in the present. I just finished painting Amitriel and she's a tragedy too - now as a painter I have to go do something cheerful and silly afterward. As a viewer? I have a little more separation. Beautiful work as always; you do great storytelling and scene setting.
    • Jakob VPLUS

Thanks once again Rhiana for supportive words. You are right and it was kind of you to write.
    • Jakob VPLUS

Also, will look at your Amitriel again. It is a model I feel ambiguity about, but I will see it through your eyes next time!
