I wanted to create a peaceful scene of a man gone fishing on a warm autumn afternoon. He doesn't really mind that the fish are wary of him and watch him from a bay just around the corner. The tree he is sitting under has already started shedding its leaves, but as yet it is has mostly retained its vibrant golden foliage. In my mind the cosy place the man has found was once fenced in belonging to somebody; but nobody cares anymore. The fence is old and dilapidated and the hidden jetty can be reached not too difficultly via a small flight of earthen steps. It is a place unknown to anybody but the man, and he enjoys his peaceful loneliness there under the golden autumn tree.

The figures and accessories I purchased from MAIM were a bit of a disappointment, the figure lacking in details and some not very convincingly sculpted regions and the jetty really being too small for its scale. Still, it was fun to create this utterly un-heroic diorama. It is on display under a glass dome.

@Maestoso Arte: You are right, there are very fine products in the MAIM line - and they have figures and accessories to themes no other model makers seem to care about. I will have a look at the figures you mentioned! And thanks for your encouragement.

To everybody here who inspired me with their art and motivated me with their comments: Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year or, if you don't celebrate these holidays, simply have a good time and find enough opportunities to create! Best wishes, Richard
