“London will be rebuilt” Charles II after the great fire of London
In 1666 the great fire of London nearly destroyed the whole capitol. In the days after, king Charles II, walked among his people, who had lost everything to the flames, trying to comfort them that their city would be rebuilt...
A 54mm scratch built diorama.
Note the choice of colors with the soot and greyish shade of the people and the brighter and almost fiery colors of the king. The composition and the colors help to tell the story in a dramatic way. I had great fun doing this quite unusual diorama.
(PS the little dogs we can see in foreground were the kings puppies that he was very fond of) Diorama made in 2015.

Dear Friends Many, many thanks for your kind words and comments about my work, it means a lot to me.I have added some more photos here of this diorama. I am sorry for the lack of good quality photos. Once I have finished a figure, vignette or diorama it is exhibited at a show around the world and pick upped by a collector... I must confess that I sometimes forget to take photos of my work before it leaves my studio... But I will better myself in the future! I promise! Mike
  • Clive Jackson

    Like an 'old master'! Gold!
    • Mike BlankPLUS

Thank you Clive! Yes, that´s what inspire me, how the old masters used colors and composed scenes. Hopefully I will grasp something of that in the near future... And if you are gonna study and learn, learn from the best. You can´t beat the old masters! Mike
