When I first got this bust I was unsure how to paint it since so many amazing versions have already been done. The more I looked at it though the more I saw Azog from The Hobbit in the sculpt, and decided to transform it into the iconic character- and I hope it did him justice. The bust is the academic orc from Hera models, and it was really a joy to work on. The sculpt was so smooth and well cast; it allowed for ease of interpretation, texturing, and free handing in the scars. i didn't modify the bust in any way, it is all paint only. I painted this bust as a gift for a small secret santa exchange, soon it will be sent to a good friend in the community who has meant a lot to me in my growth as an artist. I know the painting is more desaturated and a bit lower contrast than my normal works, but in the end I'm very happy with it and I think I captured the character.
