Thanks Rhett, would you explain what lets you down for the base? I'll take it into account the next time I work something like this. Small and unobtrusive, while carrying the elements of the painting coarser was the intent.
Sure, though this is just my opinion. I think it calls too much attention to itself. The brushwork on the model reminds me of Van Gogh, and the difference between that and base is a bit jarring. Personally I’d put it on a flat black cube and let the painting speak for itself. It’s still a wonderful piece, though.
