The figure that forms the core of this was a present to me by my friend https://www.facebook.com/udo.spreng.5Udo Spreng, the master of 1/72 miniatures. He had this figure sculpted for him and made a couple of white metal casts, which are available through his line https://www.fredericus-rex.eu/de/Massstab-1-72-Figuren-Gebaeude-Pflanzen-Fahnen/Hersteller-Massstab-1-72/Bad---Boy/BB-NOR-001.htmlBad Boy Productions.

The original figure has an axe in his raised hand and a shield in his other. I liked the idea to depict a night raider, who is pillaging a monastery somewhere in the Ireland of the early middle ages. So, I sculpted him a torch to wield in his right and gave him a spear in his left hand. Also, because the original shield that comes with the mini is too small, I built a new one from plastic card. For the cross I used the top part of the cross that comes with the 35mm Nocturna figure and added the lower parts built from plastic sheet and miliput.

This was my first attempt at painting a night scene and my first OSL. Thanks to Roman for guiding my thinking and his, as usual, excellent advice! I am quite happy with how it turned out; and the mini took a Bronze medal in the 2018 SMC Historical Masters category.

Thanks for watching. Talk to you soon,

D.
