I struggled a bit with finding an idea for the base, but since I am still learning to work with water effects, I thought it would be fun to depict the Ashigaru (a Japanese common foot soldier) guarding his master's Koi pond. Was great fun to paint the fish, but I had to build the base twice because of a mishap with the first resin pour.
The miniature was finished on 12 April 2018, and I took it to the Herzog von Bayern competition in Ingolstadt (together with my other 1/72 stuff), where it won Bronze in the Historical Master Painting category :-)
Thanks for watching and best, D.

Poor guy: standing the hole day like this and not allowed to move or shift his feet. Very well captured mood. And congrats to the well deserved medal!Michel
