Margaret (Peggy) Shippen - Turn Washington’s Spies
painted

This is my take on Alas by Brokentoad who I based on Peggy Shippen, second wife of Amercian turncoat, Benedict Arnold, and daughter of a prominent family in Philadelphia. According to the book and show, Turn: Washington's Spies, she played both sides of the War for Independence and was in love with the British Major John André. In the show, she is a canny and manipulative character. I thought the idea of her holding a skull (possibly Major John André's after he was hanged by George Washington and the American Continental Army) was apt.
I hope you like my interpretation.
I have also included a picture of my muse Ksenia Solo playing Peggy Shippen dancing with Ian Kahn playing General George Washington in this great show.
