Hi all,

Here I show you the project I presented to the Standard Fantasy Open category in the last Monte San Savino (2017). This was a joint project with my friend and amazing sculptor Dark Templar (http://www.puttyandpaint.com/Darky_Angles), who took care of bringing this concept to life, before I destroyed it with my brushes :) I also want to mention and thank Ben Komets, who gave me several suggestions that improved substantially the final result of the figure.

All in all, I love it, mainly because it is the first project I have presented in an Open category of a painting competition. However, it was painted in a hurry during the last weeks before Monte, and now I feel that many things should have been done differently. In any case, it will be always in my heart, and also, we got a Silver thanks to it, hooray :)

So here you have, and as usual, all comments, criticism, feedback and suggestions are more than welcome! It was a pity I could not receive more during Monte, in addition to those fantastic comments from Alfonso Giraldes.

Thank you guys!

It looks amazing! I am so happy you painted it respecting the natural darky ambient but using a lot of colors!! congrats Herald!! :)

The sand effect is exceptional. Also, i really like the tonality of the skin. Great work!
    • Luis Salamanca "Herald"

Thank you so much for your nice comment! Though it is lacking some tonal variation, yep, the skin is the thing I am the most proud of :). The lord of dreams was a challenging one! Thanks again Andrew, really appreciated.

    Exceptional painting.
    • Luis Salamanca "Herald"

Thank you so much John! Yeah, I am quite happy about it finally turned out, though it was really challenging with that scale. In any case, it is important to learn with every figure we decide to confront with :)
  • Steve Jourdain

    J'aime les teintes, bravo
    • Luis Salamanca "Herald"

Merci beaucoup Steve! Obtenir un combinaison de couleurs intéressant était difficile, mais à la fin, je suis content du résultat.
  • Dan Pollart

Thank you so much for your nice comment! I have to thank deeply my colleague @darky_angles, the responsible of such an amazing sculpture! And by the way, awesome work yours also! Cheers!
  • David Kuehn

Wow. So much to like in this figure. The overall play with the different dark colors, the stars on the cloak, the fantastic bluish skin and the beautiful texture on the little bag. But the winner for me ist the raven! Thanks for sharing, Luis!

Wow, thanks again for the amazing comment. Indeed, it was a challenging one, mainly because of the limited palette, as I could not see how to provide some more chromatic richness. But still, I like how it ended up. And also, extremely proud of being able of painting a scratch piece, and having the possibility of presenting it in Monte. Thanks David!
