A TIE Fighter Over Jaku
painted
by
Jacob Richards
Bandai's 1/72 TIE Fighter was a blast to work on. At 1/72 scale, the piece was actually bigger than I had anticipated. The size made it a joy to work out and I really had a lot of fun working different portions of the model to fit the environment I wanted it to be operating in.
My goal was to display the craft as if it was operating over an arid planet. I pictured this is how many TIEs would look while operating over Jaku in the following months after the events of Return of the Jedi. My inspiration came from looking over photos of F4U Corsair planes that served in the Pacific Theatre of World War II.
The craft was painted with acrylics and then weathered using oil and enamel products.
