This is my second attempt at painting a display quality 1/72 miniature and the first in my coming "Tarawa trilogy". It depicts a US Marine wading through the warm waters of Tarawa during the Marines' amphibious landing on the Japan-held atoll in November 1943 (for some historical background, see this Wikipedia site on the battle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Tarawalink)
It was also my second attempt to work with 2k water and I had some interesting, and partly frustrating, results with it (basically due to my inability to mix the 2 components according to the correct specifications), but I am happy with how it turned out now.
Amazing idea David! And an incredible execution! You create so lovely scenes. I truly love how you capture that cold watery ambiance, as you get totally immersed in the moment. Looking forward to seeing it in person, as at that scale, I imagine it has to look much more incredible. Cheers man.
Thank you, Luis, for your kind words! I am really happy that you like him and that the atmosphere comes across. I can't wait to show you the guy in person the next time we meet! Stay in touch and talk to you soon! Best, D.
