Finally I can show my entry for the Massive Voodoo 2017 water base challenge.

I had the statue from Kaha Miniatures for a while but couldn't decide on something suitable to show it off. The water base challenge got me thinking about under water statues and the rest just followed on.

Originally the idea involved a sea turtle but my sculpting skill didn't cut it for me. Then I watched some footage of eagle rays swimming. Graceful and beautiful. And I knew of the Mantis Miniatures one. The rest involved a lot of crossed fingers.

Thank you for looking.

Love this, the resin work is so smooth and clean. The Ray has a lovely feel to it, great job mate.

Many thanks, and cheers for helping to keep me going when I was close to throwing it.

Looks great. The lights seem natural to me. Wonderfull.
    • Steve Haydon (Forté)

I tried to go with zenithal lighting. The tinted resin actually does a fair amount of the light work itself.

Thank you everyone who has looked this over. I'm honestly stunned (and a fair bit overwhelmed with how it has been received too) with the comments I've been reading. So many supportive people in this hobby community.

    • Steve Haydon (Forté)

Wow, thank you. Though in comparison to much of the painting on here (especially your own) it really isn't gold. Honoured that you voted. Thank you.
