While it is nice to se an old school model in a classic old school paintjob, I have to say that you lack a clear focus. It all blures into one surface. Your Metal has nearly everyware the same values, The horns are blending into the metal, due to the bright Colour, and the snow base does nothing to help the miniature stand out. The effect is furtherd by the backdrop. Don't get me wrong, I still like qhat you have done here but I think with a bit more efford, you realy could have made theis guy pop out. A bit of OSL around the Eyes, some glases and colourplay in the metall, a base to contrast the Miniature andthsi would not be a good mini as of now, but an awesome miniatur, all without losing the old school touch.
Thank you Lukas. But I feel there is really not much you can say to help me improve. The funny thing is , and ill say it publicly because I'm not a fan of your work you wrote this description,..cute .. Really. If you know anything about miniature painting its a universal light source - you should try it. This may help you get better. Again thanks but ill stay my course and I asked you nicely in private emails to stop voting down my work. If I'm not a fan of your work like I told you in recent emails. And you seemed upset and now this message. Which seems to be the exact same thing I said to you to do to improve. Now I'm asking publicly - IDE respectfully ask you to not vote and or comment on my work. This is the third time. So if you continue everyone will see how inappropriate this tactic is. Plainly and politely I'm not interested in what you have to say. And I've asked not to keep going. Nothing personal I know what I like and what results I'm after and respectfully it's not yours bud.
Woh, John, you need to calm down, seriously. You just acted, as if I called your work shit or seriously insulted you. I considered really carefully, if I should answer or not, but to not say something would not be right and fair, both to you and me as well as the community, whom you dragged into "this".
So, let me start by saying, again, that I meant absolutely no harm in replying, and am sorry If I hurt your feelings and pride in doing so. For one you told me you would like to see more feedback on this page. and Furthermore, from our ongoing conversations I gathered you were upset of not knowing why I voted not always gold on your pics as well as on works of others. So, to avoid leaving an "empty" Bronze, I commented and left some info why I voted the way I did. I get that voting is not the easiest task, especially due to the high quality of many works shown, but because of that I always consider carefully what I vote. And please remember, a Bronze does not mean your work is bad.
2 . It rather means, that I like what I see and appreciate it. As I wrote in my initial comment, I like your version of Slambo: With my comment, I didn't mean to devaluate your work, but I just think with some minor things it could be pushed even further - as said above.
Another thing I like to address is your notion of me "down voting" your work. As already said, I don't consider a Bronze or a Silver as a downvote, If I wouldn’t like the stuff I voted for, I wouldn't have voted. I really don't understand why you see it as an insult and seemingly use it as one yourself.
Concerning my feedback and that you don't want to follow it, that's absolutely fine with me. I would never wish for everyone following one strict guideline or set of fixed rules. That would be boring to see and would extremely hinder the creative process that is miniature painting. But I thing some input is always helpful and nice. I for one are hugely thankful for everyone who tells me where something could be changed or done differently.
3 It shows the took some time to consider my work and gives me a new perspective on what I do. Much to often we are focused to narrowly on what we are doing to see alternative ways and minor flaws in our own work. Getting input allows a different view and to understand our own work better, either where it can be improved or where it has a good direction and should be continued. AND the wonderful thing about feedback, you don't even have to follow it, but can just pic out the stuff you deem useful.
AGAIN I DON'T CARE FOR WHAT YOU HAVETO SAY!!! I'm asking again or TELLUNG YOU YOU I DON'T WANT YOUR FEEDBACK. Your nasty in personal messages and your trying to come off nice here. I know what your doing as for calming down I'm actually really calm. I never asked for your feedback , it's not personal i just do not like your results other people might -I DO NOT- so trying to keep giving feedback or defending your point is all moot.
Sorry but your an artist who's results I don't wish to emulate they don't do anything for me. THAT'S IT -BOTTOM LINE. Their good but not what I wish to pursue. My opinion and stand behind it.
Two quick things: First - and again - it is not about emulating someone but improving your own style. No need to be hurt or arrogant about it. Second, it is borderline defamatory, to claim, in private I would be nasty. I might be brutally honest, but I am always respectful and try to come of nice. It might not be always to your liking but at least you could have the dignity to except it and either let it be or contact me in person to discuss it. calling me a nasty person, is btw relay fantastic, after telling me that my opinion is worthless to you because you consider my work below you. But that's something I will talk to you in detail in private.
Jarhead , emuse and the rest it's not the vote you simole minded man. Your not getting what I'm saying I've a tone of bronzes , props and I deserve them all . And if they give feedback IDE listen but again going back to private messages.you don't like me and I do not like you . You are clever person in a public forum but really lets get down to it. I don't care much for your arrogant attitude. This goes back to when you asked me why I have you a bronze I explained why and other things to do. You never said thank you . But I thought you always are thankful . That's a lie. If I got five hundred gold medal from you I still wouldn't care. I know what kinda guy you are and ill ask one more time before bringing it up to Phil again- PLEASE STOP DRAGGING THIS CONVERSATION ON MY THREAD- this will go to Phil again . I DON'T LIKE YOUR ARROGANCE AND HOW YOU COME OFF AND I DO NOT WANT IT ON MY PAGE. !!! End this now.
Guys to be clear - SLAMBO in my eyes is a 76 or less paintjob he was put up for a reason it was trying to get great shots in a fully glossed/ shiny metallic model. It uses a universal light source - as opposed to a zenithal source. It was done in an ancient style following in the eavy metal teams older works. This model is NOT anywhere near my best work. Look at my gallery I'm sure most will agree. I do feel however I achieved what i was researching and absolutely love what I did. It's not votes or metals. I put this up as I'm am enthralled how this model captured that old school feel and the paintjob to boot. Thanks all everyone.
OK, this one is TREMENDOUS!
Metallics are great for me, limited palette fits very well, eyes are a nice touch, blood is simple, but not overdone, rust effect is very well placed on the model, not overdone again and I just love this old, dirty snow! Maybe you could add more shadows in lower parts on the horns and that's it;)
With this model You can stand next to one of my all-time personal painting icons Jakob Rune Nielsen. I grew up with his works and old all 'EM team in old White Dwarfs. Absolutely fantastic work here. I love 'EM oldschool painting and JRN was, is and will be my number one, but this model is really close to that, what I remember and what I love from good old times... You really gave me a big hit of nostalgia with this model:D
Gold of course.
Congratulations, John!

Righto slawol my friend. Your right bout the underneath of the horns. Now that feedback from you ,a painter I admire ,your style is always praised from my end. Your an excellent painter and I simply loove that realistic style, the weathering on that marine on the bike and lets not forget the nosferatu mini from mr rudyuk !!! The wings are perfectly executed as is the rest pf that piece. So your feedback is always welcomed and noted bud. Thank slawol!!! The Jakob Neilson comparable is one of the best I ever had given to me. Thank you my friend.
Regarding the previous comments, I have to say that this painting is tabletop, I have seen many miniatures of this scale and the TMM is well done, the horns are fine, and in general the finish is good, another thing is if people like more or less, thing which already depends on colors, schemes and personal opinions, but the technique is well executed. For really compare this miniature, we needs another similar with the same scheme by other

After alot of thinking since yesterday's misunderstanding in my part, I publicly apologize to Lukas wiggering for only trying to help. Lukas is a very accomished artist and a very educated man. Regardless of what the reason is it was not right by any means to accuse him of trying to hinder me or my work in any malicious way. Don't expect him to take any apologies but I will say "MY DEEPEST APOLOGIES TO YOU LUKAS" whatever our past was it was buried and I had no right to think you were digging up any malice in anyway. I'm human like everybody else. I have a short fuse and a bit of a chip on my shoulder, mixed in with my ego and that's a recipe for childlike behavior I exhibited yesterday. I'm also man enough to admit it and that's it. Moving forward I welcome any advice and or tips of any kind on my projects on my emails etc. thank you all for hopefully moving past this. And again Lukas thanks for trying to help always.
