This piece was inspired by the many oil paintings of cityscapes and their night lights reflecting in the rain. That type of painting is often painted with a palette knife, which creates a certain texture. To mimic this effect I used a chiseled size 3 brush for the whole piece, except a few final highlights on the figure itself.
I tried to paint in an expressionistic way, foregoing the smoothness or detail - just to try something new. The whole piece was also done in 48hours as part of a painting challenge.
The model is "Widow Weaver" from the Wyrd game Malifaux.
