The paintjob match perfectly with the story you wanna tell ... i can feel sadness, tiredness and pain in those eyes.
And all those textures...
Strong gold !
Hi Jay!
First I have to say you did a good job!
It's a tremendus ejercise of texturing.
If it helps, it needs more "clean" looking in all the surface. This seems opposite of giving textures but nothing at all. Yo can give a subtke texture and then clean above with glazes to unify. Dont have to name the best painter on this (kirill kanaev).
Cheers and keep on the good work!
hey yeas i agree with you, i did glaze afterwards but maybe should have done more, but was worried to lose the effect i was searching for on this piece. thanks for the feedback its much apprecited!!!
Really digging the the approach you took with the face. Bold colors, textures and lights. The metal armor is also really well done.
* p.s. The face of this character really reminds me of a Dutch book writer/politician called Jan Terlouw.
Texture wise this is quite a wonderful result on all surfaces. A great texture study. In my eyes it only misses final definitions. Overall it works really good!
Jay I love your work, I'd kill for your shroom shaman. The eyes on this piece are wonderful but I feel the rest might be over worked, as a passionate fan I feel this lacks your normal fluidity, almost like you chased the image in your head but the sculpt fell short?
Thx for your words bud although I'm neither sure I understand or agree as I purposefully kept everything minimal, with muted palette and limited colours. Actually I think my biggest issue is the lack of complexity and saturation to some of the colours

Textures pushed?... yeah! Emotion? Hell yeah! Gold. Very painterly Jay. It has a very Renaissance like painting style to it.
