Surt, King of Atlantis - Scale 75 Bust
I started this model with a number of goals in mind, all aimed towards improving my skills as a painter. I forced myself to paint over a white undercoat (I usually paint over black, or with a zenithal priming), and utilise no black, or white, at any point on the model. I've really struggled with getting great contrast and I think it is because I've desaturated the colours by mixing in black or white to try and deepen it.
I was very free with my brush, trying for a number of different textures and varying smoothness across it all, and try to mix cool and warm tones as well.
On the whole, I am very happy with this model! This has really restored my faith in my own painting ability, after the last few models which I've been a bit down on, this one just all flowed off the brush and I enjoyed every second of it. Just one thing, this isn't the final plinth, I am waiting on some to arrive from Dark Messiah.
Thanks for all your great comments and critiques on my last models, I appreciate it! And feel free to continue here on this one, as the only way to get better is to keep working at it!
