  • Ben Snyder (Demihuman)

Great work David! This is one of those projects that really shows all the best aspects of mini painting; it's beautiful, it tells an awesome story, and it really makes me want to interact with it. I feel like a lot of mini's get categorized into either game pieces or display pieces, and obviously you aren't going to do a ton of gaming with a piece that you put this much work into, but you could, and it would be awesome. It evokes everything I love about gaming. Love the sparse base.too.
    • David Diamondstone

Thanks so much Ben! You're right, other than the plinth and the too-delicate bit of roots, you could totally game with this mini, and even the plinth is the right shape and almost the right size. I tend to like simple bases, so many of my competition entries find themselves on gaming bases, including several in my Putty&Paint; gallery.

Last question! Resin, plastic or metal figure?
    • David Diamondstone

  • mmasclans

I really like this one! I remember when I painted mine for the box art, it is a great miniature from Pedro! hehe I like the scheme and the technique on the metals. Nice job! Gold!
    • David Diamondstone

Thanks so much Marc! Your box-art is fabulous, that was one of the things which originally drew me to the miniature (especially getting to see it in person at the CoolMini booth at Gen Con). Your work has been a great inspiration to me, especially your excellent use of textures, and I was trying to do something similar with this mini.
