About
Started seriously painting figures (54mm) around 1974 after I got back from the Army in Germany…joined the NJMMA (then the North Jersey Military Miniature Associates)) in or around November of that year…was lucky to know the late Andrei Koribanics as a fellow member of that club - I learned much of my technique from him and his patient way of teaching, including my introduction to painting with artist’s oils. I relocated to FL in ‘79 and got to know the late Robert C.(Bob) Knee,Jr. via the old Atlanta Soldier Society… Between Bob & Andrei I learned much about using that medium and was just getting to where I was happy with my work when I got a case of artist’s block ca 1986 and haven’t picked up a brush ‘in anger’ since that time…I’m trying to get back into the game now this time using acrylics…I was fairly well acquainted with oils and their idiosyncrasies but the long drying times and my current situation with multiple pets (cats & dogs) seems to make acrylics the best choice…I really hate giving up the medium that I’m most familiar with but feel that mixing colors can’t be THAT different from oils…my main concern will be keeping the paints wet long enough to work with them -blending, shading highlighting, etc…looking forward to getting back - this time with 1/10th busts
