"The Nightwatch"
/////
When night turns day to darkness,
ancient evil creeps out of long forgotten dungeons,
willing to wipe away the living, but fear not,
the company around Rodar, the druid and Josephus, the monk
are standing watch to protect the fearful and fight the lurkers of hell.

/////
Wow ...
this one took me ages. Exactly around 2,5 years of motivational ups and downs but during the last months I sat down to finish it to proper result (I hope). All figures, excluding the dog and the mice are from the company Red Box Games. I so much love them as for me these are really great fantasy adventurers with tons of character.
///
The first title of the project was "The Gang is all here", but to the end it came very clear that I want to honour a great painting by Rembrandt van Rijn, called "the Nightwatch" with it. I have seen this particular painting a lot during my painting classes as I explain some things on it during the class: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Night_Watch
///
During my studies I also wrote several works about this painting and I so much love the composition and the drama of the light. I know it is not the same in my little diorama, but I felt it there somehow.
///
The last photo shows the project during the last steps of work on my workbench, while was painting the plinth black.
///
The project was sold to a private collector.
Thank you for your support in my craft, work, art

    So I see that your work on The Last Light has made you addicted to large show pieces ;) Very impressive and top quality work as always!
    • Roman LappatPLUS

      Not really. It took the fear away of facing bigger projects, yes. And I got a lot of bigger projects around waiting in line since years. So it is a good and healthy thing to finish them up. Thank you for your comment!
  • Jaroslaw Camelson Drabek

    Hey Roman, i don´t know if i get too excited about the amount of minis used. Maybe 2 or 3 less would have been better. But maybe especially BECAUSE of the mini-count this piece is friggin epic! Again a really nice piece from ya! :) Love it!
    • Roman LappatPLUS

      I understand your point, mainly from composition subject due photo shooting of the piece. Thing is that I just was so into it and really enjoyed to see the group growing with different characters. In real it is a bit easier to spot out the different models, photos were not that easy to make as for example from one angle the dark skinned sorceres has a piece of bow in front of her head ... yeah ... maybe a bit too much, but I enjoyed it. Can't help myself on that one :D
  • Dirk R.

    Looks really fantastic. I love the scene and the atmosphere !
    • Roman LappatPLUS

      Thanks to you for your comment! Watch out for an upcoming step by step on MV in the future. I will talk a lot about the colours I used to find this athmosphere. Ups and Downs promised.
  • Luis Miguel Rebollo Monedero

    I can identify with the inspirational ups and downs. I´ve been working on a miniature project for the last 4 years and I know very well what is this all about. You got the strenght to finish it, and better than properly. Congratulations. I´ll try to do the same ;-)
    • Roman LappatPLUS

      Hey Luis, yay it's like that. You always have to keep in mind that the right time for every figure project arrives someday. Forcing yourself through big deal projects is never good for the project. Time comes, always. This thought helps me to do a little break on some projects once in a while :)
  • Karsten -Elaphus- Poepping

    wieder mal schwer beeindruckend, klasse !!!
  • A.Demidov

    Well done! Great work and a great result)

    • Roman LappatPLUS

      Yeah, it took its time and drained a lot of energies ... but, it is done. Got plenty of those "long timers" around here. Maybe I find some more strength in the future. Thank you!
  • Crackpot

    AHHHH! Red-Box-Orgasmus! :D
  • Sergey Savenkov

  • Fausto "AbyssoulFP" Palumbo
